Samuel Cook is a U.S. Army veteran and West Point graduate, with a master’s in Russian and Ukrainian studies, and commanded a cavalry troop in Iraq.
In 2022 he founded the Borderlands Foundation” in Ukraine to aid refugees, document the war, support veteran rehabilitation, and strengthen U.S.-Ukraine ties through events like the annual Freedom Summit.
Sam has lived in Ukraine since 2018 and leads Borderlands from Kyiv, focusing on military training, veteran mental health, and long-term advocacy for Ukraine’s victory and recovery.
