Use Your AI Skills to Help Ukraine’s Drone Fleet Evolve
AI is revolutionizing the battlefield — and Ukraine is leading the charge. Volunteers with experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision are helping Ukraine pilot smarter, more autonomous drone systems that reduce risks and improve effectiveness.
🚁 Why AI for Drones?
With thousands of drones deployed in combat and reconnaissance roles, Ukraine urgently needs:
- Target recognition and tracking
- Obstacle avoidance in dynamic environments
- Automated return-to-base and fail-safe protocols
- Vision-based navigation (GPS-denied areas)
- Flight optimization and adaptive algorithms
- Onboard ML models that can run on low-power devices (e.g., Jetson Nano, Raspberry Pi)
🧠 Needed Skills
We’re looking for volunteers experienced in:
- ML/AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, YOLO, OpenCV)
- Embedded systems and edge inference
- Computer vision and real-time object detection
- Robotics control and reinforcement learning
- UAV SDKs (PX4, ArduPilot) and drone simulation tools
Bonus if you’ve worked with ROS, drone telemetry, or onboard GPU optimization.
⚙️ Projects May Include
- Training object detection models for FPV drone video
- Integrating ML pipelines into drone firmware
- Creating simulation environments for testing AI pilots
- Building fallback systems for autonomous drones
- Helping Ukrainian teams deploy and maintain AI-enabled tools
