DTU Code of Conduct

Behavior Expectations

1. Respect - Treat others with respect. Discrimination, demeaning language or harassment will not be tolerated.

2. Stay on Topic - Keep discussions relevant to the chat’s purpose. Off-topic chatter may be moved to designated side channels.

3. Call etiquette - Don't talk over others. Consider raising your hand to speak. Turning on your video when you wish to speak is recommended and can often help with body language. Give space to those to whom English is not their first language.

4. Confidentiality and privacy - Don't misrepresent others or their positions or mislead others for personal gain or agenda. Do not share sensitive information outside of DTU without permission of the poster.

5. Conflicts of Interest - Disclose any conflict of interest to your group Admins. Spell out any financial arrangements that might get affect DTU’s reputation or the war effort.

6. Follow through on your commitments - If you arrange to ship something to another member or do something of value, don't be flaky. If you can't meet a commitment, cancel it. Communicate. Flakiness hurts the war effort.

7. Act in good faith - Avoid assumptions - especially negative ones about others’ actions or motives. Try to ascribe good intentions to others and work out problems directly before complaining to others.

8. Consent Before Inviting Others - Never add users to the chat without confirming with the group or moderators.

9. Profit Motive - the priority of this group is to help Ukraine win, but commercial work is not prohibited so long as it is acknowledged as such and communicated to DTU leadership. The primary end-user of your work in DTU should always be Ukraine.

OPSEC Guidelines

1. Assume Everything Could Be Sensitive - Treat all messages as potentially confidential. Think twice before discussing content outside of DTU.

2. Report Suspicious Activity Immediately - If you suspect an account has become compromised or notice unusual behavior, notify an admin or moderator right away. If you change your Signal security number (for example by changing phones), it is your responsibility to alert DTU admin or you may be removed from our chats.

3. Use Secure Devices - Participate using devices with up-to-date security patches. Computers should use antivirus. Avoid public/shared computers, Bluetooth devices and never use open wifi. If traveling to Ukraine, China or similar risky locations, consider using a second "burner" phone, or at least use Lockdown mode.

4. Use security best practices - Beware phishing emails, honeypot social accounts and other risks. Don't click or download unknown links or files. Be aware that AI and search engines track your data.

5. No Unvetted Bots or Plugins - Do not integrate third-party bots, plugins, or extensions into the chat unless reviewed and approved by an admin.

6. Naming - Strive to refer to DTU members by their Signal callsigns, especially for current soldiers.

7. Remedial actions - If you find a security flaw, report it to an Admin. If you notice a potential security issue, report it to an Admin.
